Dear Family and Friends From South Africa October 10, 2011,
We haven't had a very exciting week this week. This week was a holiday for the school kids and so we don't teach when they are on holiday because they are not always home. Our big project this week was to move two of the Elders in Dundee to a new boarding. We had four Elders in one boarding with only one bathroom. We spent all day Wednesday and Thursday getting them moved. We had to buy new furniture and the furniture store was doing the moving. Their truck never got back in time to move them on Wednesday. So, back we went Thursday at 7am and got home about 6pm. We hung curtains. I washed new dishes and put them in the cupboard after they we washed out. The previous tenant smoked and the kitchen was the worse room. I bought some spay and sprayed the carpet and all the rooms. We went to lunch both days at the Miners Restaurant at the Talana Museum. She makes wonderful food. Her pecan pie is to die for.
On Tuesday we had our District meeting with the Elders here in Ladysmith. That takes half the day. It's suppose to start at 10:30 and be over by 12. They were late starting and we got out at 1pm. I just get a little grumpy when I start getting hungry.
I have been trying to do a little deep cleaning each week. I moved the stove, washer, dryer, and refrigerator and mopped under them. They needed cleaning under too. This week I was going to tackle the stove, but it will just have to be next week. I did laundry and the ironing today, so I have to save some for next week.
Elder Hudson is making vegetable soup for President VonStetten tomorrow. He is coming to interview all the Elders here at 9am. So, we will be at the church to open things up for him.
We had a leadership training Saturday in Madadeni. We have to leave two hours early now to get there because they are working on the road and they have one way traffic in two places. You never know if you will go straight through or have to wait twenty minuets. We did have to wait a little---not bad. The training was really good. They explained how each organization was to make a budget for the coming year for all their activities and once they have spent their budget there will be no more. Some of the members here think the church has an endless flow of money. A couple was here from Durban and did some more training too. We went for Chinese food after the meeting with the Peterson's and the Ward's. We went back to the Ward's house after lunch and just had a nice visit with them. We almost had a full moon for our drive home.
Well, as you can see it was not much this week. We do so much driving sometimes in the week and I want you to know we are truly watched over and protected a lot. The drivers here drive really fast and don't obey the rules.
I am thankful for this experience and for the blessing we receive everyday. I know our families are being bless for our service too.
We send our love and may God Bless you all,
Elder and Sister Hudson
