Newsletter Oct. 31, 2011

Dear Family & Friends Oct. 31, 2011,
Happy Halloween.  It is my turn to write the news letter.  We ended and interesting week and are starting an interesting week.  We taught music as usual and things are going good with the students.  Some are really progressing and others are just going through the motions.   I feel I spend my time just having them practice the songs.  I guess that is one way to make them practice.
Saturday, I was asked by the Relief Society to teach them something.  I told her we would also prepare a lunch for 15 to 20 sisters.  We had two sisters show up.  Elder Hudson had made pulled pork, a butternut squash salad, potato chips, and squirrel bars.  I also made the Relief Society President a table runner and I presented her the table runner.  I had made pot holders and some kitchen towels that I let the other sister choose from.  We also fed the Young Elders.  They even helped serve the lunch.  I also taught some things about music that you see on each hymn page.
Friday we went out to Watersmeet and measured a young girl for a wheel chair.  The Neilsen's are bringing it down this Wednesday.  We will go with them out to the house of the person who is getting the wheel chair.  One of the Ladysmith members took us out there and wanted this young girl to have a wheel chair.
Saturday afternoon the Gunderson's came to teach a class on education.  They help members to fill out the paper work to get loans to go to school.  We have one girl from Ezakheni and two girls from Ladysmith who are trying to get some help.  These girls are really sharp, one has said she has been accepted to a law school.  They are really cute girls too.  The Gunderson's spent the night with us and took us out to dinner.  They left Sunday morning to go to church up at Dundee.  We didn't go with them because I had to go to Ezakheni to play the piano for the Primary program.  They had around 30 boys and girls.  Elder Hudson pointed out to me there was only five boys and two-four girls.  I wish you could have heard them sing.  They sounded like angles singing.  Then the leader had them recite the theme for each month.  Then she would ask questions and they would take turn answering the questions.  It was a very nice program.  She and her helper are doing a good job teaching them.
We came home and had lunch when two of the Elders showed up.  They came by to tell us Shokane was leaving on Monday.  We really like this Elder Shokane and will miss him.  He is going down by PMB and will be a Zone leader.  He has been training one of the Elders that arrived from the USA two transfers back.   So,Elder Hudson fed them lunch too.  Then at 4pm Sister and Elder Ward showed up with Elder Lesso.  He has finished his mission and is going home.  He stayed with us until about 8:30 when the two Elders from Ezekhenii stopped by to get him and take him to their boarding.  We had to get up at 4:30am to take him to the bus this morning out on N3.  His bus was to come at 6:10 and showed up at 6:35.  They unloaded and loaded up really fast and pulled out in about five minutes.
We got back home and were just settling back into doing laundry, changing sheets when the four Dundee Elders showed up.  This is now about noon and Elder Hudson feds them the pulled pork sandwiches.  We have pretty much finished the food we cooked for Saturday.  We had some Elders that needed shots, so we ran to the office to make sure the Dr. had the serum for the shots.  They did not so, we have that scheduled for tomorrow now.
One of the Newcastle zone leader's Manshase called right after we finished lunch and wanted to know if Sister Hudson would make him some of the good oatmeal, chocolate chip cookies.   So, I got busy and made a batch of cookies.  This recipe makes 7 dozen cookies and is really good.  I hope he got the cookies because we sent them with one of the Elders that was going to get on the bus here in Ladysmith and would be traveling part of the way together.  We lost two Elders this transfer and will get two new ones tonight or tomorrow.  We are enjoying the Elder's a lot more and they really appreciate any time we feed them.  We have also gone to Dundee today to take two of the Elders back up there.  We got home at 5:30 and Elder Hudson is preparing dinner.  I think we will eat at 7 or 7:30.  This week has been busy and this next week is starting out busy too.  Well, that makes the time pass fast.
We send our love and want you to know how blessed we are by serving our Heavenly Father.
Elder and Sister Hudson
