Dear Family and Friends from South Africa,
It is my turn to write the news letter. First I want to tell you two things Elder Hudson forgot in last weeks news letter. When we were at church in Ezakheni the young men did not have their scriptures. So, Elder Hudson volunteered me to make 7 scripture bags. I was lucky I found some fake leather in the boarding and was able to make some of them with that material. Then the picture of the ladies is at the Ladysmith chapel. They had a work shop and I showed them how to make place mats. They all went home with two. They had a fun time visiting and sewing.
Now, for this weeks news. We had transfers this week and that always makes the week fly by and is full of surprises. We were to pick up four Elders on N3 at 6:10 Tuesday morning. They called at 5:30 and said the bus was running late. We left here at 7am with the Ezakheni Elders following us. They got two and we got two. Our cars are small and the Elders always have too much luggage. We then drove to Newcastle, where Elder Ward took one Elder on to Swaziland. The other Elder forgot his passport and he had to stay in Newcastle. We needed to wait for Elder Ward to come back from Swaziland to take an Elder he was bringing back to Harrismith. So, to kill some of the time we went to Dundee. We went to the realtor to see if he had any two man boardings. The lady that works for him had just found one that she was holding for the mine. The mine had called that morning and said they didn't need it after all. We went and looked at it and said yes we would take it. We called Durban and they said yes we would take it. Then we went to a furniture store to price some items. We had lunch out at the Talana Museum and went back to Newcastle. We took the Elder to Harrismith and picked up the forgotten passport. We then drove back to Newcastle with the passport. We had Chinese food with the Wards. We got home after 11pm. We just fell into bed.
Thursday we had to go to N3 and pick up a brand new Elder. He just arrived from Utah. We took him to Dundee, where he will be serving. We taught piano to the President's daughter and to Sister Hlatshwayo son. There was a boy there and he wanted to take lessons too. We gave him a lesson and we need to get him a key board and book.
Friday the Patriarch came to our house and spent the weekend with us. We took him to Dundee Saturday morning where he gave 8 blessings to the members up there. He was suppose to take a lunch break, but the members kept showing up and he went straight through. He finished at about 3:30. We drove him through Dundee, because he grew up there and hadn't been there for a long time. He was glad to see his home and the town. We showed him the property that we are trying to get for the church to build on.
We took him to Ezakheni Sunday for church and he gave a really good talk. He talk about the evil forces around us and how to keep the evil forces away. We fed him a quick lunch and sent him on his way. It is really nice to have the Patriarch in our home because he shares experiences and interesting things he has found in the scriptures.
We are having wonderful experiences and making great memories. I wish you all could have these experiences.
We love you and miss you.
Elder Hudson and Sister Hudson
