Dear Family and Friends January 30, 2011,
I forgot about our news letter this week. We had a couple that are from the US come by to use Skype to talk with their family. Tyler is from Utah and is working on a ranch here in South Africa. She came over to visit and they decided to just get married. They haven’t been able to get Skype to work for them. So, it was nice to share our computer with them. They were on for about two hours, talking with their families.
We had to stay after church at Ladysmith today to practice singing for District Conference this weekend. Ladysmith is to sing for the evening session on Saturday. They decided I would not play for them because the songs would be too high. So, I get to sing with them. And Elder Hudson will sing too. They need all the male voices they can get. She wouldn’t let anyone go home until she had sang the songs as much as she wanted. We got home at 2pm.
The two Elders that wrecked their car need bicycle helmets. We got a call after 1:30 Saturday that we could go purchase the helmets. We went right a way to Game and bought two helmets. We weren't in the store very long and they announced it was two o’clock and the store was now closed. We just got their in time to buy the helmets. We then ran them out to Ezakheni to the Elders.
We taught piano at Ezakheni to the five kids, Ladysmith we had three students, Dannhauser three students, and Dundee she had forgot and the boys weren’t home. We said we would catch them this week.
Elder Hudson spent Monday trying to get President Mohli’s truck fixed. They even went back out to the place we met them to see if they could find the phone, no such luck. Elder Hudson had to buy another phone. They were able to come get the truck and take it to the shop and fix it. I think they had to put new barrings in the front wheel.
I want to tell Frances that we do not see jet stream here in South Africa. We are just lucky to see a jet flying over from a distance. We could see lots of jet streams in California. We have had a small airplane fly over twice. I mean a single engine plane.
Day care started last week and the new kids are giving her a time, lots of crying. I think this week has been a little better. I think she has three black ladies that help her with her preschool. They are very clean. We see them washing the chairs down all the time.
I am up late tonight because I was trying to Skype with Robbin or on line chat with her. I don’t know if it is going to happen. Modern technology is wonderful.
I found out they have cobra snakes here. I am not happy about this. Tyler and his wife had one in there apartment at the ranch. She said it was little. She took the broom and shooed it out and it went up and fanned out. But then it did leave on its own.
We send our love to all from South Africa Sister and Elder Hudson
